Im whipped

MattkempandmeThe trip got to me. I had this plan today — after our workout, while the rest of the team went to see the Great Wall, I was going to rent a bike and just bike up and down the streets of Beijing and see all parts of this city. But I?m whipped. I didn?t really have my strength at the workout and I was a little achy, probably just from the trip or whatever. My timing was off hitting. So after getting back from the workouts, I didn?t even go out. I went to sleep. I got up in time for the reception at the hotel.

Tomorrow, we?ve got an early bus for the game and I?m going to prepare like it?s any day game. I?m going to get there early for batting practice, take some soft toss, start seeing the ball, just my regular routine for a game. After the game, I?ll get some dinner, but then got to get back and pack because we leave Sunday.

This trip is going fast. Check back tomorrow.

Andrew, Beijing is great. Go to the Great Wall (BaDaLing) with the rest of the team if you have the chance. Whatever you do, don’t rent a bike to ride all over Beijing. First of all, the city is huge. Secondly, it’s very very dangerous as the traffic is bad and the drivers are crazy. Thridly, you will end up breathing tons of pollution and probably get sick and on top of that probably get lost. Just hire a driver or take a taxi, or go to the Hutongs and hire a bicycle taxi. Have fun. I’m jealous.

Great to see you blogging about your experiences, Andruw. Glad to see you in Blue, and know you and the Dodgers (and Padres) will represent baseball with class.

Too bad you will not really be able to see or do much on this trip but I can understand how you feel after so long a flight and the time change. Take it easy and save it up for the season.

    Andruw,
I’m still not used to seeing you in that Dodger Blue. But I guess there’s worse things…like Orange and Blue.

I guess they’re wearing you out if you’re “whipped” but make sure you get plenty of pics while you’re there.

Hope you’re having a great time on the other side of the planet! Can’t wait to have you back in Atlanta when the Dodgers visit.

    Hi, Andruw!

I join other fans in welcoming you to LA.

In the photo gallery about the China trip, you’re shown with a camera. Which one do you use?

Hey Andruw! We’re going to miss you. Our family will be making the 3 hour drive from our home on April 20th to see you play in Atlanta. My son, who will just turn 10, loves watching you play because you always seem to smile and have fun. Have an awesome year.

    Andruw,
As an expat who has just relocated to Beijing, it was great to see a stand-up, all-star player like you bringing baseball to China. Enjoy this wonderful city, and the best of luck this season!
